* April 1993 Hanoverian Pedigree: Bon Bonaparte – Consul - Akzent II |
Bonaparte was a weaned foal when he came to the Kemmer stable. He spent his first years on the spacious pastures in the Kehding country together with another colt-foal of the same age, sired by stallion "Ravallo" of Amselhof. Due to the good experience with her successful horses Borsalino and Beauvalais Heike is particularly fond of the Bolero blood. Bonaparte's father, the stallion Bon Bonaparte is a son of the well-known Hanoverian Bolero. Interestingly enough there is blood of Akzent II in his pedigree on the dam's side. Both Akzent II and his elder brother Akzent I were born on Amselhof Walle and contributed largely to Lower Saxony's breeding history with their many successful descendants.
In spring 1996 life began in earnest for "Bonni". He was gently acquainted with the lunge and soon had his first encounter with saddle, bit, and rider. His pleasant interior combined with an ideal disposition made work with him easy. He quickly learnt the school movements of a dressage horse, and the more advanced lessons didn't cause great problems either. Whenever weather permitted he was rewarded with ridings out in the environs.
To this day Bonaparte very much enjoys these cross-country rides. He observes his surroundings attentively and likes to explore the countryside on a long rein. In the training as much as in tests he registers many details outside the arena with pricked ears but nonetheless always remains a reliable partner. In daily contact he is uncomplicated yet very sensitive. A typical "Bonni" characteristic is his distinct sense of smell which sometimes makes him shy of strange persons or smells. Extensive running around or wallowing in hall or paddock are those items on his agenda which he appreciates most next to the daily work. Ground-hugging with long neck he looks for new and unknown things, extends and stretches and never gets hectic but loosens up and relaxes.
Health permitting, Bonaparte will develop further in the years to come. His potential is not yet exhausted, despite the highlights he has shown, and the great progress of the past months stabilizes more and more. He is a reliable partner who is always with it and cooperates.
